We’d like to send a special congratulations to the Class of 2020

A few months ago, our Executive Vice President & Chief of External Public Affairs John Hudson had the honor to sit down with Spelman College President Dr. Mary Schmidt Campbell. They spoke about the importance of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in our communities and the specific contributions Spelman College graduates have made in STEM industries and beyond. At Southern Company Gas, we were particularly inspired by Dr. Campbell’s ambition for all Spelman students and believe it’s an important goal for all higher education institutions.

We are incredibly proud of the achievements of Spelman graduates and all the colleges and universities we support. In fact, earlier this year our parent company Southern Company announced a $50 million multi-year initiative to support students attending select HBCUs within the system’s service footprint. We believe HBCUs are vital in preparing the workforce of the future. So, we congratulate all who are receiving their degree this year and wish each of you continued success for the future.
