Georgia Natural Gas recycles more than 15,000 pounds of electronics at Earth Day recycling event

Georgia Natural Gas, Georgia’s leading natural gas provider, with partners 11AliveLenox Square and eWaste/ePlanet, celebrated Earth Day last week by holding its annual recycling event at Lenox Square. The community came out in large numbers, lined up in their cars, to bring their old electronics to the collection site in the Buckhead shopping center.

The effort collected more than 15,000 pounds of electronic equipment to recycle. All old electronics including cell phones, computers, monitors, printers, televisions, radios and fax machines were safely and responsibly recycled with the expertise of eWaste/ePlanet. This number surpassed all previous Earth Day event recycling numbers.

Participants followed CDC safety guidelines, including practicing social distancing and wearing masks. To avoid direct person-to-person contact, donors simply opened their vehicle trunks and volunteers removed the electronics to be recycled. Those who made donations entered to win a flat screen television and had the opportunity to learn about Greener Life, GNG’s carbon offset program that makes emissions from customers’ natural gas use carbon neutral.
